Yourlink Ltd Managing Director Rob Davies and Group colleague Patrick Konrath will shortly attempt to cycle from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean coast, across the giant peaks of the Pyrenees, to raise funds for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research. Rob’s sister, Alison Elliott (formerly Davies) aged 47, passed away on New Year’s Eve 2009, one week after being diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer. 30,000 people a year are diagnosed with blood cancer every year in the UK.
Rob says “I wanted to try and do something epic to raise as much money as possible towards funding leukemia and lymphona research, but wasn’t able to think of anything “big” enough. So what is better than two novice cyclists, attempting to cross an entire mountain range that incorporates many of the most infamous climbs seen on the Tour de France, and all within 6 days!? The challenge represents a huge one in more ways than one, that will require at least 9 months of training up to 70 miles per day, all the more amazing when you look at the shape that we are not in!”
